Northern lights

Described by Environment Canada as “silent fireworks,” the northern lights (or aurora borealis) are shimmering, luminous colours and shapes that seem to dance in the sky, the result of charged solar particles interacting with atmospheric gases above the earth’s northern magnetic pole.
