Weather bomb

First described in a scientific paper co-authored by a Canadian, “explosive cyclogenesis” is primarily a winter maritime event, characterized as a severe storm with lots of precipitation (snow and freezing rain mostly) and hurricane-force winds. It’s also been called a bomb cyclone, a meteorological bomb, and bombogenesis.
