In 2006 at the Olympics in Turin, Italy, American snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis was way out in front of the field in the Snowboard Cross final. Like, almost 150 feet ahead. Anticipating victory, she attempted a method grab on the second-last jump. She didn’t land cleanly, and fell, and was passed. We’re not judging, but losing a sure-thing gold medal by showboating probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do.
