Women’s hockey debuts at the olympics

It’s kind of crazy to think about but women’s hockey has only been an Olympic event for 20 years. The 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, was the first time the various women’s teams from around the world got to compete for gold. In the inaugural year of competition, the American team disposed of its Canadian competition in the gold medal match — but Team Canada has won every Olympic gold since.
