Emo, Ontario

While this township’s name conjures images of misunderstood teens with black fingernails, it’s actually a pretty active, outdoorsy place. Named after a village in Ireland, Emo is a town of just over 1,000 people near Kenora well-known for its small, tight-knit community and its great fishing. The Emo Walleye Classic, its annual catch-and-release fishing tournament that takes place on the Rainy River between Ontario and Minnesota.
