15 of Canada’s most unique beaches

Kathleen Lake

Size: 80 km lake

Location: Kluane National Park and Reserve, Yukon

What makes it unique: Not all beaching is about sun, fun, and sand. Yukon’s Kluane National Park is more of an opportunity for adventure than for tanning (and that’s okay!). Kluane translates loosely to “big fish,” and the fishing here backs it up: lake trout and Arctic grayling practically jump into your arms. This is a wilderness nirvana, offering fishing lodges, lots of camping, and unique hikes you can only find in the Yukon.

Fun fact: it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site
