15 little-known facts about the Arctic fox

They’re not endangered—yet

Arctic fox populations are threatened by climate change — with less snow in their habitat, their white winter colouring provides less protection from predators like red foxes, which are able to encroach on Arctic fox territory as northern temperatures rise. The number of red foxes is also increasing because of over-extinction of predators such as the grey wolf, which in the past kept red fox populations in balance.
