15 facts about mosquitoes that will make your skin crawl

The females inject you with saliva!

Their sneaky mosquito mouths bite you — and then inject you with their saliva. A female mosquito’s mouth is an intricately designed thing. They have a mandible and what’s called maxillae; the mandible is pointed while the maxillae has a flat blade. There are six parts of the female mosquito mouth, but they mainly use their mandibles and maxillae to bite. The bump you get from the bite is your skin’s reaction to the saliva.
