Eyes, so many eyes

The mosquito head is basically just a circle with hundreds of eyes. The lenses of the eyes are called ommatidia, and each singular ommatidia has its own lens, cornea, and special cells that detect brightness and colour. Despite all their eyes, their eyesight is pretty poor; they depend on their eyes to detect movement, not to read 6-point font.
