Pemmican

The birthplace of beef jerky is often debated, but there’s no discussion of where this delicacy originated. A First Nations delicacy, “pemmican” comes from the Cree word pimîhkân (a translation of its root word yields “fat, grease”) and pemmican embodies that translation deliciously. Dried meat fashioned from bison or moose is pounded into a powder and mixed with melted fat, berries and other ingredients to make a treat you can’t possibly find anywhere else.
