14 amazing places to surf in Canada

Martinique Beach, Nova Scotia

Just an hour east of Halifax, Martinique Beach Provincial Park is a beach lover’s paradise, and has become Canada’s premiere East Coast surf spot. This four-kilometre stretch of shallow sandy beach offers consistent waves, lifeguards during the summer, and free parking. Be careful though: it’s a bit of a challenge for beginners, with larger waves than Nova Scotia suggests. Groundswells create most of the surf, and are surfable at all stages of tide.
